Gabrielcorto Moltedo wanted to give women something more refined and ladylike this season. So in comparison to the skulls, tassels and rivets seen in past collections, Moltedo has toned it down and has concentrated on what he knows best which is leather researching. This shows in the large squishy Elisabeth bags which are made of a very very light eelskin that come complete with chunky chains intertwined with the eelskin, a new interpretation on chains intertwined with leather. Python and ostrich are also played around with. The evening clutches reflect a hint of the art deco with its precise geometric gold squares. Talitha Getty swanning around in Marrakesh in a multicoloured kaftan was definitely an inspiration for the vivid colours used on patent clutches and the Lego range of day bags. Despite the new found sophistication, Moltedo still retains his sense of humour that he is known for, with his metallic giant cassette clutches in opulent satin.

The design shift also coincides with the opening of Corto Moltedo's first flagship boutique in the Jardins du Palais Royal that will feature an installation by Colombian artist Federico Uribe.
