The Lady Gaga's stylist, Mugler designer and Dazed/AnOther contributor adds shop keeper to his CV... at least for a while
New York Fashion saw the launch of the annual BOFFO temporary concept store, this time in collaboration with Nicola Formichetti + Gage/Clemenceau Architects. Nicola’s, a 1,300 square foot space at Karkula’s 50 Walker Street, New York, has been transformed into a mirrored prism. The store will house a collection of limited edition pieces available to purchase such as Thierry Mugler menswear and womenswear, Nicola’s iPhone cases, jewellery, candles, t-shirts and exclusive designs by emerging international designers. BOFFO Building Fashion Founding Partner Supima, has also worked with Formichetti providing cotton materials to produce a limited edition patchwork tank top sold exclusively through BOFFO on location at Nicola’s and a giant Supima cotton panda bear. Renowned architectural firm, Gage/Clemenceau Architects were selected from over 60 candidates by BOFFO, Nicola Formichetti, and a specifically selected panel of judges to make Nicola’s inner most creativity and visions come to life in a retail environment.
Nicola’s will also feature installations from Formichetti’s past and present creations and collaborations. As the Creative Director of Thierry Mugler, Fashion Director to Lady Gaga, the Haus of Gaga, Uniqlo and Vogue Japan, as well as contributor to Dazed & Confused, AnOther Magazine and V Magazine. A selection of this work has been curated in the space alongside other initiatives exclusive to Nicola’s. Nicola’s is the first installation in a series of five collaborations celebrating architecture and fashion design. Formichetti’s concept store will be followed by young American jewelry designer Irene Neuwirth + Marc Fornes / THEVERYMANY, Patrik Ervell + Graham Hudson, and closes with womenswear designers, Ohne Titel + EASTON+COMBS.
