Last month, the eclipses cracked something open. They may have pulled you out of one timeline and into another, while the Virgo energy blatantly revealed you need to heal. After this harsh reality check, the Sun in Libra sweeps in to restore peace, as this season calls for beauty, symmetry and connection. It’s the midway point of the astrological year, where our focus moves from the self to our counterparts. Libra is the union of opposites, the space where dualities can coexist without canceling each other out. The masculine and feminine, the inner and outer, self and other, all held in one impressive outfit.

While Libra is traditionally symbolised by the scales, Carrie Bradshaw might make a more fitting modern archetype. Slinking through the city in Manolos, forever wondering out loud about love, while remaining irritatingly indecisive. Superficial? Sometimes. Social climbing? Occasionally. But Libra redeems herself by remaining a hopeless romantic. Libra weighs her options, but is consistent about the importance of aesthetics and connection. Here, heartbreak is rewritten as art, fashion is reframed as philosophy, and sustenance is found in glittering social scenes. Libra wants romance to be visible, undeniable and dressed up for the world to see. This is the sign of curation, ambiance and external manifestation: where we attend the idyllic dinner party, progress from situationship to relationship, and find the apartment with good light.

While the Sun in Libra prefers to keep things light and polite, conversations are vulnerable, messy and deep starting the first week of October. Mercury syncs up with Jupiter, Chiron and Pluto, and relational revelations are in store. Hidden feelings rise to the surface, and dialogue feels less casual and more like a reality show confessional. On the sixth, Mercury moves into Scorpio, favouring truth over pretenses. That same day, Full Moon in Aries exposes imbalances between independence and partnership, adding a confrontational, impulsive energy to the mix. Mean what you say, but don’t be mean when you say it.

Venus moves into Libra on the 13th, softening our attitudes and restoring the peace. Cuffing season is in full swing, and suddenly, the idea of being alone is less appealing than basking in someone else’s company. Flattery, flirtation and fashion are top priority, as Venus dances through her home territory. Manifestations heighten during the New Moon on October 21, which is a favourable window for calling in love. It’s an opportunistic time for setting intentions for connections, as well as cultivating a life that pairs up with our romantic vision.

The following day, Neptune, planet of soul-love, dreams and delusions, backtracks into Pisces, for the last and final time for over 150 years. It’s spooky and surreal, accompanied by the Sun’s ingress into Scorpio. We want to merge with others, making the end of the month feel murky and magical, just in time for Halloween. Our psychic senses are dialed all the way up, and passion precedes logic. The month concludes with Mercury moving into Sagittarius, accentuating our appetite for information. We are seeking answers to life’s big questions, occasionally misplacing our credit cards and keys in the process. Overall, October is equal parts romantic and revealing, reminding us of the importance of vulnerability – while wearing the right outfit.
