Every few years, Beyoncé comes out of hibernation to remind us that she is still able to do it all. Ten months ago she gave us the gift that is Renaissance and, as of last week, a stadium world tour with a setlist near to three hours. But before there was Beyoncé the performer, there was Beyoncé Giselle Knowles; a normal Texas tween, doing normal things like sweeping hair in Headliners, her mother’s eight-seat salon in Houston.
Now, 33 years after Tina Knowles opened the doors to Headliners, it seems Beyoncé is heading back to her roots. Taking to Instagram last night, the American singer casually teased her latest business venture following in her mother Tina’s footsteps – a haircare brand. “I watched her heal and be of service to so many women. Having learned so much on my hair journey, I’ve always dreamed of carrying on her legacy.”
Reminiscing on her childhood in the salon, she wrote “Destiny’s Child got our start by performing for clients while they were getting their hair done. I was exposed to so many different kinds of entrepreneurial women in her salon. I saw firsthand how the ways we nurture and celebrate hair can directly impact our souls.”
People are, naturally, very excited about the news and have been speculating about what exactly the new haircare range will entail. While many are hoping for a line of wigs – who wouldn’t want to live in a world filled with people wearing 33-inch curly buss down lace fronts à la Mrs Knowles-Carter – it seems like the singer has given fans a hint of what is to come in the announcement image.
Given Beyoncé is a Virgo and has never let us forget it, it is unlikely that the numerous unmarked sample lab bottles and jars in the corner of the photograph are there by mistake. Surely, they offer hidden clues as to what might come and it looks like it will be products in spray bottles, oils, serums and lotions.
Nothing has been confirmed yet, from category to release date, but it would make sense for it to drop during the next few months of her world tour. Snatch your edges on stage and help you grow them back with a shampoo when you get home, how incredibly philanthropic.
