And with the chaos and spontaneity that came with it were an influx of impromptu hairstyles that no one saw coming. Through our quarantine boredom came the resurgence of the mullet, tried and tested by Troye Sivan, the curtain bangs courtesy of Bella Hadid, Dua Lipa’s e-girl platinum stripes, and Emily Ratajkowski’s blonde debut which all set the tone in this year’s hall of fame for the most iconic celebrity hairstyles. And it seems Lil Nas X has just earned his spot. The “Old Town Road” star took centre stage on Instagram today flaunting an all-red ensemble, featuring scarlet locks and a matching leather two-piece. Echoing his usual energetic style, the 21-year-old singer sent a whole lotta red ripples across the internet as fans favoured his new look. The crimson ensemble follows the launch of Lil Nas X’s festive-themed song titled “Holiday” earlier this month, that sees the star transform into a futuristic Santa Claus, soaring the night sky on Christmas Eve in a red sports car with robotic reindeers because even an ageing Chris Cringle has had to modernise and deal with accepting cookies and not the chocolate chip kind anymore. Directed by Lil Nas X himself, alongside Gibson Hazard, renowned for his reimagined music video visuals using otherworldly imagery and special effects, the rapper documented the success from the contemporary festive number, hitting 40 million views with a Christmas tree adorned in his hair, complete with tinsel, baubles and a star created by hairstylist Evanie Frausto. Christmas might be feeling a little lacklustre this year compared to the usual fanfare of the holiday season. But fear not humbugs, Lil Nas X is here to ignite some Christmas cheer.
