Launching October 1, Makeup by Mario takes its title from the MUA’s Instagram account, on which he boasts 8 million followers, and will focus on eye products – a nod to his signature technique, Mario always starts with the eyes. The collection will feature three palettes (meant to fit in the palm of one’s hand), three primer-powder sets, a hydrating translucent balm, three skin illuminators, a liquid liner, two eye pencils, a brightening pencil, five brushes, and biodegradable make-up wipes. Three years in the making, it’s Dedivanovic’s first solo beauty offering although the make-up artist famous for keeping Kim Kardashian West’s face beat has previously collaborated with brands including Anastasia Beverly Hills and KKW Beauty. This debut collection takes its inspiration from the colours of human flesh, arteries, and organs, Dedivanovic told WWD. One of the teal shades, for example, is based on a major artery that connects to the heart. “I wanted a brand that is completely universal, especially in this first collection so that all of my clients would be able to use it,” he says. “I started to research and study the shades within the human body,” he continues. “Not to sound morbid, but basically to show that the collection is truly universal and comes from within us.” Makeup by Mario will retail exclusively at Sephora. The store holds a special place in his heart, since it’s where Dedivanovic began his beauty career 20 years ago at the age of 17. “Before I went to Sephora and walked into that store accidentally, I was an extremely closested young man who was desperate to go to Manhattan and find people like me,” he says. “When I walked into Sephora, my life changed. I discovered beauty and I found my true calling.” While this first collection is focused on eye products for now, foundations and powders are already in the works. Although we may not see them until 2023. Until then, you’ll be able to shop all the products from the beginning of October at Sephora and makeupbymario.com. Escape the algorithm!
