Dior Beauty’s Peter Philips on his new Gabber-inspired shoot for Kim Jones

Kim Jones teams up with friends for his guest curation of Belgian fashion magazine A Magazine Curated By

Kim Jones has become the latest editor of A Magazine Curated By. The nineteenth issue of the magazine – which invites a different fashion designer to curate each issue – sees the Artistic Director of Dior Men bring his signature futurism-meets-old-world aesthetic to the pages which take the form of an alphabet. Beginning with ‘A’ for Naomi Campbell’s ‘Africa’ and ending with ‘Z’ for Amanda Lear’s ‘Zero,’ Jones’s alphabet showcases work by friends and collaborators – everyone from Hajime Sorayama to Stephen Jones, Jefferson Hack and, of course, creative and image director of Christian Dior make-up, Peter Philips.

For the magazine’s two covers, we see Philips’ take on the letter “G” with a Gabber-inspired beauty shoot for which he acted as both creative director and make-up artist. Photographed by David Vasiljevic with models Ludwig Wilsdorff and Sakua Kambong, the shoot puts Dior make-up at the forefront with clownish looks featuring colourful noses, panda eyes and monster masks.

“Kim shared with me his passion for 90’s Gabber music, he sent me a pile of the most bizarre, but at the same time very original and fascinating album covers,” Philips tells us of the shoot. “I used the covers as props and got inspired by elements from those covers to create this story.”

A Magazine Curated By Kim Jones is out internationally today.
