Available in two shades, Who Needs Clothes and Brown Sugar, and with the tagline “who needs clothes?” the Body Lava launched alongside an accompanying tutorial by Rihanna in which the singer, with a sultry stare to the camera, applies the body oil to her shoulder. With the come-hither eyes and over the shoulder stance, fans were quick to find humour in the short tutorial and the recreations started rolling in. Dubbed #bodylavachallenge or #rhiannachallenge, the most hilarious parodies came from the men of the internet who took to the challenge particularly enthusiastically, posting videos of themselves rubbing lotion into their shoulder with a seductive stare and whatever prop they had to hand, whether that be a sock, a mop, or a Timberland. Whether or not because of the challenge, the shimmering body oil proved extremely popular, quickly selling out, and has been unavailable ever since. Until now that is. Earlier this week, Rihanna revealed that due to popular demand, Body Lava was returning. Taking to Instagram to make the announcement, Badgalriri posted a picture of herself shimmering in the sunlight with the caption “Back with that new DRIP!” Limited edition, the two original Body Lavas, plus a brand new shade, Trophy Wife, dropped yesterday.
