Announcing the news via social media, the young actress stated that she was “absolutely honoured to be amongst so many incredible women.” Described by Lancôme as a “role model for her generation” and “proof of the happy and shining future ahead of chez Lancome,” Zendaya joins actress Lupita Nyong’o and model Taylor Hill in the heritage brand’s family. Speaking about the announcement, international president of L’Oreal Francoise Lehmann said Zendaya brings a “youthful and a unique approach to beauty” that “complements Lancôme's vision and creativity”. Since starting her career as a teen actress on the Disney Channel, Zendaya has quickly become a role model thanks to her dedication to always being her most authentic self and her words of wisdom on everything from cultural appropriation to feminism to self-confidence. In 2016, she told Popsugar, “I would say my number one tip is to know that it's okay to be in love with yourself. That's not a bad thing. People might think it's cocky, or arrogant, or selfish — no, that's not what that means. Being in love with yourself is okay. You're allowed to love yourself first. You're allowed to put yourself first." This recent news is just one in the long lists of Zendaya’s accomplishments, joining her recent collaboration with Tommy Hilfiger that debuted last week, her upcoming role in the new Spider-Man film and becoming a Rihanna-approved beauty and style influencer.
