The eight-episode series, which is released on the streaming site this Friday, promises to be a darker, more sinister version of 2016 breakout hit Stranger Things. It follows the story of blind twenty-something called Prairie Johnson, who returns to her hometown seven years after mysteriously disappearing as a child. According to the official synopsis, “some hail her a miracle, others a dangerous mystery, but Prairie won’t talk about her seven years missing with the FBI or her parents.” The OA was written by filmmakers Zal Batmanglij and Brit Marling, with the latter also taking on the main role of Prairie. Emory Cohen (Brooklyn, The Place Beyond the Pines), Scott Wilson (The Walking Dead, Junebug), and Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter) will also star. Check out the full first trailer above.
