The UK Prime Minister, who was staunchly in favour of a ‘Remain’ vote, shared the news in an official statement outside 10 Downing Street this morning. In it, Cameron stated that the decision had “not been taken lightly”. “The will of the British people is an instruction that must be delivered,” he announced. “There can be no doubt about the result.” He added that he will do what he can do “steady the ship”, and assured markets and investors that the economy was still fundamentally strong.
