According to reports in Variety, the Chanel muse is set to star in video artist Stéphanie Di Giusto's The Dancer – a 19th century drama following the lives of American performers Loie Fuller and Isadora Duncan. Depp will be playing Duncan, a dancer who grew up poverty-stricken in San Francisco before becoming a worldwide sensation, and the role of Fuller will be played by French musician Soko. Apparently, the two dancers were a major influence on each other's creative lives, with Duncan helping Fuller eventually pioneer the “Serpentine” – basically a form of burlesque – at the turn of the 20th century. Although Depp is also set to star in Kevin Smith's upcoming Yoga Hosers and Rebecca Zlotowski’s Planetarium, this role sounds considerably meatier than both of those. In fact, it will probably be the actress's first proper opportunity to show off the gifts her thesp parents gave her (aside from her completely insane ANGEL FACE, obviously). This film will also star Gaspard Ulliel, Melanie Thierry, François Damiens and Louis-Do de Lencquesaing, with filming due to start on September 28 – but you can let your imagination run wild in the meantime by watching a clip of the actual Loie Fuller below.
