This September a new, experimental music festival, Sustain Release, comes to New York. Showcasing the cream of the crop in dance music alongside emerging artists about to break, we've got a seven-part special today going in deep with the creators – get up to speed here.

Jordan is one of my best friends in NYC, and I met him almost three ago shortly after I moved back here and started my job at halcyon, where Jordan had also worked previously and still regularly visited. In a city full of often flighty and unforgiving people, I was immediately struck by the depth of his kindness, humility, and complete emotional honesty. This is why he’s also one of my favourite DJs and producers. Sure, he’s technically talented as hell, but it’s the same qualities I hold so dear in our friendship that set him apart from so many other musicians. Everything he does is raw and genuinely from the heart whilst being bolstered by his excellent musicality and powerful intellect. I absolutely can't wait to moved on the dancefloor during his multiple sets at the festival, and he will no doubt leave a fair few people stunned.

Onward with the facts though, which is fairly easy since I wrote his DJ bio a few months ago for the price of a few glasses of vino one evening when we were hanging out. What are friends and a bit of healthy self-plagiarizing for, eh!? Jordan grew up in Ohio, where he was exposed to the Midwest rave scene through various other facets of dance music, and devoted himself to the art of playing records at a young age. His move to New York City in the mid-2000s marked the beginning of his electronic production career while holding down day-jobs at the legendary Brooklyn Phono pressing plant and halcyon the shop. His releases have been coming fast and furious as of late, with tracks on Brooklyn's L.A.G. label as upcoming 12”s on Florida's Finale, London's Ornate, Fred P's Boards, and Paris's Latency record labels. You can peep a track from his Finale Sessions release "Division Point EP" right here. Aside from his busy solo schedule, Jordan has also recently collaborated with Fred P and Tin Man.

Jordan plays the Sustain-Release Festival Bossa stage at 10.30pm on Friday September 12th
