Magnum is selling $100 prints to aid coronavirus relief

For one week only, you can get your hands on signed photos by the likes of Martin Parr, Susan Meiselas, and Bruce Davidson

The Magnum Square Print Sale is back, selling photographic moments of history for the cool price of just $100 (£81) per print. This time, the week-long sale is raising money for coronavirus relief, with 50 per cent of each sale going to Médecins Sans Frontières’s COVID-19 emergency response.

The theme of the sale is ‘turning points’, and includes a selection of images that “represent changes in the course of history, society, a life, or an artistic practice”. In collaboration with The Everyday Projects, the Magnum Square Print Sale brings together over 120 images by international photographers and visual artists.

In a press release, Magnum Photos said: “Turning points occur on a scale that spans extremes; the global or national, and the most personal of moments. This year’s selection represents chance experiments which redirect long-established practices, life-changing experiences in the face of conflict and social unrest, personal milestones in an artist’s life or career, and of course the moments in time – captured on camera – which rerouted history.”

The theme is particularly fitting at a time when the world is in the midst of a global pandemic, and our everyday lives have completely transformed. As Magnum Photos says, “reflections around personal fulcrums, social tipping-points, and geo-political crossroads have become eerily apt”.

Participating photographers include Susan Meiselas, Bruce Davidson, Martin Parr, Eve Arnold, Carolyn Drake, and many more. Each signed print is accompanied by statements from the photographers and estates, and will be available to buy until Sunday April 12. See the full selection here.
