Annie Leibovitz is now on Instagram

Let the stalking commence

Acclaimed for her intimate portraits of the most established talent in the world – from Leonardo DiCaprio to Kendrick Lamar and Patti SmithAnnie Leibovitz is now Instagram.

Creating an account today, under the handle @annieleibovitz, the American artist has already amassed 37k followers and posted three pictures. The first, a black and white shot of her mother taken in New York in 1997, sits alongside her image of the Nobel prize-winning Malala Yousafzai taken in Birmingham in 2016, and finally, a picture shot for Vanity Fair featuring Speaker of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi.

As Instagram becomes a more and more essential space for photographers to share their work, Leibovitz appears to be putting together an archival account of her work. While we sit and patiently wait for some more posts to trickle into our feed (hopefully in the form of candid or never seen before pictures), take a look back at Leibovitz’s shoot for the Pirelli 2016 calendar below.
