Meet the rebel-minded model that’s messing with the future
Bouncing into the studio in a Supreme puffa jacket, rebel-minded model Slick Woods beelines to the computer to blast her favourite Future song, “Hallucinating”, over the speakers. “I fuck with this,” she says, flashing her gap teeth as she bobs along to the heavy bars.
Woods, real name Simone Thompson, was discovered in LA by model Ash Stymest, who approached her with a spliff on a bus bench and quickly befriended her. It didn’t take long for the smoke to clear before she was signed with NY boutique agency The Lions and appearing in the lookbook for Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 2 collection.
That all led quickly to a Calvin Klein cosign – Woods appeared in the AW16 campaign shot by Tyrone Lebon, and has since walked for shows as varied as Fendi and Fenty, Rihanna’s Puma label. It’s not just her stunning look – tattooed, weighed down with gold chains and without a shred of makeup – but her punchy, DGAF persona that allows Slick Woods to ether the game.
