Patrick ‘Wiki’ Morales is one third of Harlem rap trio Ratking, a group he founded alongside Hak and Sporting Life. Working solo in the studio right now, Wiki wants to bring a certain rawness to his sound. “l want people to feel like they’re going through it with me. Sometimes they’re feeling hype and lit and sometimes they’re feeling down. I want to put it all in perspective and make something they can all relate to.”

Combining playful themes with dextrous lyrical constructs, Wiki’s recent Lil Me mixtape details the stresses and strains of a life spent on the grind (standout “Living With My Moms” sees our proverbial homeboy laughing about “smoking blunts out the window when she’s gone”). Featuring SkeptaMicachu and Madlib, Wiki’s 18-track debut was recorded in Brooklyn, London and Manhattan’s Chinatown district. Idolising Big Pun, Juvenile, Ol’ Dirty Bastard and Buckshot, Wiki cites Cam’ron as his number one influencer.

Preaching the advice Nas once wisely imparted about remaining grounded, Wiki speaks openly about his lack of regard for money. “Why shoot the breeze about it when you can be about it. I don’t know if that’s the most important advice I’ve ever heard, but it’s real.” Missing a few front teeth, which he doesn’t actually miss quite enough to replace, Wiki’s style is all about vintage Polo Ralph Lauren and Supreme. Flicking through his Insta and Twitter feeds reveals a life well-lived, revelling with his dirtbag mates who are all equally focused on being present and enjoying the vibes that Wiki’s music promotes.

In this playlist, he selects the music he’s been listening to in the past year – and the artists who have influenced his latest creations.
