“Prepared to source and build anything in 24 hours,” David White is fashion’s fixer-upper du jour. But it’s not just superhuman speed that sets him apart from the crowd: rather, it’s his set designs’ wild fusion of avant-bland realism and hyperactive fantasy. Highlights of the year include dunking Cara Delevingne in candy for LOVE and displaying Anna Ewers in a shop window for Versace AW14.

What was your defining pop culture moment of 2014?

David White: Miley Cyrus’ entire existence.

What's your favourite song and movie of 2014?

David White: Film is Her by Spike Jonze. Song is a toss-up between “Touch the Leather” by Fat White Family and “So High” by Doja Cat.

How do you think style and pop culture will change in 2015?

David White: There is always a regurgitation, so I’m waiting for diamante jeans and trouser skirts to come back. It’s time.

In 15 words, sum up what we can expect from you in 2015.

David White: I never know what I’ll be working on or where, it’s part of the fun.

What’s the most exciting thing about the music/film/fashion industry today?

David White: I love when you get the overlap of genres and would like to see the continuation of this resulting in projects such as Alma Har’el’s Bombay Beach (2011) – a film that takes truth-led documentary footage, and directs and styles moments within the narrative to create a beautifully abstract reality.

What new skill did you learn this year?

David White: How to build a forest in ten minutes.

Who’s an unsung cultural hero that you discovered this year?

David White: Vivian Maier.

What’s the most surprising thing we’d find out if we looked at your phone?

David White: I have a robot unicorn obsession.

Who should have been at number one on the Dazed 100?

David White: Tyrone Lebon.
