We Are Shining’s cosmic club sounds are causing a perfect digital storm. Formed of underground London hero Acyde and Morgan Zarate, the production duo slow-cook their crate-digging, globe-spanning influences into a rich voodoo soul brew, going from Kanye and FKA twigs’ studios to the fashion runways in 2014. Radio supremacy surely beckons – watch their watery new video for album track “Road” exclusively below, and cop their record Kara if you haven’t done so already.

What was your defining pop culture moment of 2014?

Acyde: Rihanna quit Instagram, Instagram got boring.

Morgan Zarate: True Detective series one.

How would you sum up what you do in a sentence?

Acyde: Make music, try and stay sane…

What’s your favourite song and movie of 2014?

Morgan Zarate:  Tinashe’s “2 On”.

Acyde: I liked OG Maco’s “Bitch You Guessed it” and Cronenberg’s Maps to the Stars.

How do you think style and pop culture will change in 2015?

Acyde: Less glam, more grime or grunge, depending whether you’re into flannels or trackies. Or a bit of both.

Morgan Zarate: More combined materials/fashions and UK “urban” artists finally realising they do best by being themselves.

In 15 words, sum up what we can expect from you in 2015.

Morgan Zarate: Music that’s pop and music that’s not, live shows in a town near you.

What’s the most exciting thing about the music, film and fashion industries today?

Morgan Zarate: The free bar.

What new skill did you learn this year?

Acyde: How to stay faithful in a room full of...

Morgan Zarate: How to dodge bullets.

Who’s an unsung cultural hero that you discovered this year?

Acyde: Elon Musk. He actually seems to want to change the world for the better.

Morgan Zarate: Bartolomé de las Casas.
