Pozer is the viral rapper shaking up UK drill

Following the release of his viral debut ‘Kitchen Stove’ three months ago, Pozer talks his meteoric rise to fame and why he is his own true nemesis

After dropping his debut single “Kitchen Stove” just three months ago and already amassing over 17 million streams, Croydon-based artist Pozer has already established himself as one to watch among the UK rap scene.

Making an initial splash with his series of freestyles that went viral on TikTok and had listeners hailing him as the saviour of UK drill, Pozer embraced the limelight, dropping three singles in quick succession, each of which have garnered millions of streams.

There’s a palpable curiosity surrounding Pozer‘s meteoric rise. Perhaps it could be attributed to his self-proclaimed “fresh and lively” musical style, or perhaps it’s his undeniable online charisma. It’s probably a combination of both. Regardless, what is undeniable is the vibrant energy that permeates his music. Drawing inspiration from rap groups such as JS x YD, Pozer infuses his tracks with a vivacious energy and candid lyrics that offer an insight into his adolescence growing up in south London.

His recent release, “Malicious Intentions”, for instance, gets candid about his experiences, with lines such as “to tell the truth, I’m mentally scarred, fighting a war inside, it's dark” – juxtaposing the drill beat with vulnerable, soul-bearing lyrics. It is Pozer’s ability to mesh these opposing elements that makes his music so refreshing. Below, we catch up with Pozer about all things music, Dragon Ball Z, and what’s hot on his Insta For You Page.
