Aggro Dr1ft: Harmony Korine brings his demonic edgelord party to London

Featuring DJ sets by Arca, Evian Christ and Two Shell

In case you missed it, Harmony Korine premiered his latest anti-film Aggro Dr1ft in London last week, alongside an AGGRESSIVE DR1FTER exhibition at Hauser & Wirth Los Angeles showcasing therma-stills from the film, and a celebratory rave, featuring DJ sets by the likes of Arca, Evian Christ, Two Shell, and a hallucinogenic audiovisual show by the man himself.

Bringing his masked crew of freaks and ghouls to EartH in Hackney, the night saw the twisted world of Aggro Dr1ft come to life, with a balaclava-clad Korine accompanied by an entourage of demonic edgelords wearing horned masks and dancers dressed in all-white with neon hair – a trippy IRL expansion pack to the film’s twisted universe. Projected onto screens behind the decks were ultra-violet clips from the film – again neon highlighting the cult filmmaker’s propensity for ripping apart practically every rule in the playbook.

Joining the immersive experience were members of Korine’s new creative studio, EDGLRD, also behind a new music video from Bladee and Yung Lean called “One Second”, which features the same kind of chaotic experimentalism as Aggro Dr1ft, but with even more high-definition gaming sequences and disorientating fish-eye shots. Clearly, it’s pretty fucking weird stuff, and there’s no denying Korine has a distinct aesthetic.
