Donald Glover announces final two Childish Gambino albums

After a four-year hiatus, the musician previewed new music, while also announcing the end of his music journey under his beloved rap moniker

After his surprise performance with Tyler, the Creator at Coachella, Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, took to Twitter/X on Sunday (April 14) to announce that he would be starting his new album rollout that evening.

“GILGA Radio tonight @ 11 pm PST. Live streamed on Instagram @donaladglover,” he wrote on X

During the live stream, he previewed a song tentatively called “Human Sacrifice” and revealed that there are only two more Gambino projects on the way: “We’re releasing Atavista, but after that, there’s the final Childish Gamino album – a soundtrack for the fans.” Later in the broadcast, he teased the original soundtrack to Bando Stone & The New World, which he states will be his last album under the name Childish Gambino.

After the release of his hit record Awaken, My Love in 2017, Glover told HuffPost that he would retire his rap moniker after his last album, which ended up being 3.15.20. But Glover didn’t follow through with that statement. In a 2020 interview for GQ with Michaela Coel, he addressed why he couldn’t let go of his alter ego just yet: “I still don’t feel like I’m done with that [music] project.”

Glover has not yet released a date for Atavista
