Field Day announces new additions to 2023 lineup

The festival will host an ‘All Queens’ stage curated by Mary Anne Hobbs, in addition to Art School Girlfriend joining the main lineup

Now in its 16th year, Field Day is returning this summer with its most eclectic line-up ever. The day-long session, which takes place at Victoria Park on August 19, is set to feature a wide variety of electronic and experimental artists.

With less than six weeks to go, the festival announce a new ‘All Queens’ stage, curated by pioneering DJ and radio presenter Mary Anne Hobbs in collaboration with BBC Radio 6 Music. With a career spanning decades, Mary Anne Hobbs has been one of the most influential figures in underground music, with a firm focus on platforming and championing underrepresented artists.

‘All Queens’, a progressive initiative led by Hobbs, is designed to empower female, non-binary and trans artists. At Field Day this year, the All Queens stage will play host to Ella Knight, a DJ making waves in the house, garage, and jazz scenes. DJ and producer Chloé Robinson will also be performing, alongside Anastasia Kristensen, Deena Abdelwahed, Yunè Pinku (DJ Set) and quest_onmarq.

Field Day also announce the addition of new artists to the main line up. Love Remain will perform on the day to deliver their characteristic breakbeat and UKG sonics, while Gazzi will be treating attendees to a journey through house and UK bass. Art School Girlfriend is also joining the lineup.

As announced earlier this year, Aphex Twin will also be returning to his Hackney home for the festival, for a headline performance that is set to be a “jaw-dropping audio-visual epic”. Eagle-eyed fans clocked onto Aphex Twin’s appearance at the festival as far back as January, after a website titled 190823.co.uk (the date of Field Day 2023) appeared online with Aphex Twin’s logo on the homepage. His set will mark his first performance since 2019, when he played in London, Paris and Brooklyn, as well as at Coachella. Renowned for his otherworldly, leftfield performances, Aphex Twin’s Field Day set will not be one to miss.

Also headlining the festival is Bonobo, a creative creator who draws inspiration from all over the electronic scene. The long-term Ninja Tune affiliate has since garnered a reputation for impressive live shows which effortlessly flit from lo-fi beats to high-energy sonics.

The festival will also play host to Arca, the Caracas-born musician and producer making some of the most cutting-edge electronic music today. Fever Ray, the Swedish producer, will also be performing, alongside Jayda G, TSHA, Jon Hopkins, and Kelela. Actress, who incorporates elements of techno, electro, R&B and concrète into his sound, will also perform, in addition to Moderat, SBTRKT and LSDXOXO.
