Blood Orange joins Mykki Blanco on new song, ‘It’s Not My Choice’

The collaboration comes ahead of Blanco’s much-anticipated mini-album, Broken Hearts & Beauty Sleep

Mykki Blanco has shared the latest single from their upcoming mini-album — and first longform record since 2016’s Mykki — with a guest appearance from Blood Orange (AKA Dev Hynes).

Titled “It’s Not My Choice”, the new track is the fourth to be released ahead of Broken Hearts & Beauty Sleep, following “Free Ride”, the Kari Faux-featuring “Summer Fling”, and “Love Me” (featuring Jamila Woods and Jay Cue).

Broken Hearts & Beauty Sleep is set to arrive as a full digital release on Friday (June 18), via Transgressive Records, with a physical version scheduled to follow on October 1. The project is also set to include collaborations with God Colony, Big Freedia, and Bruno Ribeiro.

Speaking about the much-anticipated record in a statement, Blanco says: “For me, I am one of those artists who many would say has taken the longer road to get to where I am now, but it’s that journey which has been the reward because the journey really has been my life.”

“The career has just been the outer shell to the deeper things that I’ve experienced, and I can only be here now because of this journey.”
