Paul Mescal and a tiny dog star in Phoebe Bridgers’ latest video

The Normal People actor features in the visual for the singer’s track, ‘Savior Complex’, directed by Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge

Phoebe Bridgers has teamed up with Normal People’s Paul Mescal and Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge on the video for her latest single, “Savior Complex”, taken from her 2020 album, Punisher.

Directed by Waller-Bridge, the black-and-white video opens with a ‘beaten-up’ Mescal meeting a dog on the beach. As the clip goes on, the actor steals a car, cleans up his fake scars, and gets robbed by Bridgers herself – who even takes the tiny dog, much to Mescal’s dismay.

According to a press release, Bridgers and Waller-Bridge connected over email during coronavirus quarantine, after the musician expressed admiration for the actor and writer’s work. Bridgers and Mescal’s friendship appears to have blossomed after the pair took part in an Instagram Live for Wonderland back in May.

Punisher was released to widespread critical acclaim in June, and is Bridgers’ second studio album.
