Soccer stan Lana Del Rey covers Liverpool anthem ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’

The singer shared the acapella cover – set to feature in an upcoming Liverpool FC doc – on her Instagram

Lana Del Rey has dropped a moody cover of Liverpool FC anthem “You’ll Never Walk Alone”, which is set to feature in a new documentary about the Premier League football club. First featured in the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Carousel, the track became a team anthem when covered by Gerry & the Pacemakers in the 60s.

Posting a lo-fi, black and white video to her Instagram, Del Rey captioned the post “You’ll never walk alone – accapella. For the new documentary about Liverpool x”. While details about the Premier League champions’ documentary remain unknown, Lana is set to release her seventh studio album Chemtrails Over the Country Club on either December 10 or January 7 (let’s hope it’s the first one).

So far, the singer has debuted the first single “Let Me Love You Like A Woman” and teased clips from the title track’s music video. “I love the record, I love you guys, and I can’t wait to see you soon – probably in 2030,” said Del Rey on the Chemtrails Over the Country Club video set.

Elsewhere, the singer sparked controversy on Twitter last month after wearing a mesh mask while promoting her new poetry book, Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass. Let’s hope the album can make up for that one.
