There’s just over a week until the US presidential election, and an unexpected candidate has come forward: Ariana Grande. In the video for her new single, “positions”, the singer proves she has what it takes to run the country, as she steps into the top White House position.
Directed by Dave Meyers, the clip sees Grande lead meetings, sign papers in the Oval Office, and host press conferences, all while serving serious looks. The track is the lead single from her upcoming album, which is set to arrive on October 30.
Grande teased the record – which will be her sixth studio album – last week, tweeting news of its imminent arrival. The week before (October 7), she told fans she would release new music if they registered to vote.
Her upcoming album will be the first since the release of thank u, next in 2019. Since then, Grande has collaborated with Lady Gaga on “Rain on Me”, co-written BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez’s track, “Ice Cream”, created the soundtrack for the new Charlie’s Angels film, and performed at the VMAs. Outside of music, she’s just joined the cast for Adam McKay’s new Netflix comedy, Don’t Look Up, which is also set to star Timothée Chalamet, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Cate Blanchett, Jonah Hill, and more.
