Billie Eilish discusses life under quarantine in new podcast

The LA star was interviewed at home for the 50th edition of the Telekom Electronic Beats podcast

Like a lot of us, Billie Eilish is currently holed up under lockdown, with her home state of California having implemented social distancing measures to manage the coronavirus crisis. In a new podcast recorded during this period, she reflects on what life is like for her right now.

For the 50th edition of the Telekom Electronic Beats podcast, the five times Grammy Award winner and current Dazed cover star talks about spending time alone following an exhausting few years: “It sounds so introverted and lonerish but I’ve really enjoyed being alone. I feel like everyone on the internet has been talking about how they’ve been on FaceTime all day long with their friends. I love my friends, but I’m good being alone. I haven’t had this time off since I was 12.”

She also discussed her post-quarantine plans: “If I’m being real, I feel like as soon as we can see people again and go out we’re going to be so happy and grateful that in three days we’re going to take it for granted again. That’s the way people work, that’s the way humans are made. You miss something so bad once you don’t have it. Then when it comes back you fall back into that place of ‘I’ll have this for the rest of your life.’ It’s crazy we never thought we’d lose going out and having fun and seeing our friends.”

She also talks about her personal future: “I’m in the prime time of my life right now and I don’t want to be missing out on it.”

The episode was recored remotely between the Berlin-based Telekom Electronic Beats and Eilish’s home in LA. Listen to it at Apple Podcasts or Spotify.

Eilish is currently on the cover of Dazed’s summer issue, shot by Harmony Korine. Due to social distancing measures, we are giving away free digital PDF copies of the magazine – sign up to Dazed’s email to find out more.
