Kelis is a big foodie. She knows how to make a good milkshake, obviously, but she’s also written a cookbook, trained as a saucier at Le Cordon Bleu, opened a pop-up restaurant in London, and released an album simply titled Food.
Now, she’s getting her own TV cookery show – with a twist.
Cooked with Cannabis is, as its name suggests, a weed cooking show. It’s coming to Netflix on April 20, or 4/20 (when else was it going to be, really?). The series will run for six episodes and see professional chefs compete to win a $10,000 prize for their weed-infused food.
“Anyone that knows me knows how much I love my Netflix, so this is a dream come true,” Kelis wrote on Instagram, showing off some Netflix-inspired nails. “Interestingly, this was one of those things that I didn’t go looking for, it kind of came to me.”
“As a chef, I was intrigued by the good and as an everyday person, I was interested in how powerful this topic is in today’s society,” she continues. “In this country, many things have been used systematically to oppress groups of people, but this is so culturally important for us to learn and grow together.”
