Charli XCX and Galantis join for Mario-themed track for Nintendo theme park

‘We Are Born to Play’ is the theme song for Super Nintendo World in Japan

Charli XCX and Galantis have linked up for a Mario-inspired track, created to promote a new Nintendo theme park in Japan.

Super Nintendo World is opening in Universal Studios Japan in Osaka this summer. The Mario-themed park is set to be one of the most tech-heavy in the world, featuring wearable ‘Power Up Bands’ that sync to visitors smartphones to track their activities as they walk around.

The park is set to open ahead of the 2020 Olympic games this summer, and plans have been kept largely under wraps so far. But on Tuesday, Universal Studios Japan released their promo video for the park, which features Charli XCX and Galantis’s track.

The video for “We Are Born to Play” teases some attractions – including a giant Peach’s castle, where Charli and a life-sized version of Toad wave to visitors. The song also features some iconic melodies and FX from the Mario games.

Universal Studios Japan have promised that the theme park will “blend the physical world with the world of the video games”, allowing guests to “feel as if they are paying inside their favourite Nintendo game”.
