Jaden Smith to play alternate reality Kanye West in new TV series Omniverse

The Showtime series will reportedly be executive produced by Yeezy himself

Jaden Smith is set to play an alternate reality Kanye West in Omniversean upcoming anthology TV series. The half-hour show will examine “the many doors of perception”, according to Deadline, with its first season using Kanye West as a vehicle to explore the Ego.

“I’m honored and thrilled to be collaborating with everyone involved to present an alternate world through the eyes of a young man somewhere in the multiverse who happens to also be a Kanye West,” said the show’s writer, Lee Sung Jin, in a statement. “Omniverse is not set in our world nor about our world’s Kanye West as we aim to add a new spin on alternate realities, consciousness, and push the limits of half hour narrative.”

Kanye West, Jaden Smith, manager Scooter Braun, and writer Lee Sung Jin are among the show’s executive producers.

Jaden Smith’s last album was 2017’s SYRE. Since then, he has appeared in TV shows like Neo Yokio and films like The Skate Kitchen. Revisit our 2018 interview with the musician and actor here.
