A new documentary about Lil Peep is set to premiere at this year’s SXSW festival.
The doc, titled Everybody’s Everything, is directed by Sebastian Jones and Ramez Silyan, and is executive produced by Terrence Malick (Tree of Life, Thin Red Line), Peep’s mother Liza Womack, and Sarah Stennett. The soundtrack is by Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump.
The late musician – real name Gustav Elijah Åhr – passed away in November 2017 at just 21-years-old. He gained a huge fanbase over his tragically short career for reviving emo music with a strain of hip-hop, trap and rock influences, leading a new charge of artists.
News of the documentary first emerged in a New York Times feature on the artist’s posthumous releases. A posthumous collaboration with Lil Peep, iLoveMakonnen, and Fall Out Boy was released in January, as well as videos for his own tracks “16 Lines”, “Cry Alone”, “Runaway”, and “Life is Beautiful”.
A synopsis for the doc reads: “From the streets of Long Beach and Los Angeles to studios in London and sold out tours in Russia, the artist born Gustav Ahr touched countless lives through his words, his sound and his very being.
“During a sweeping journey from the depths of the underground to a meteoric rise through the music industry, Gus wrestled with what it meant to be Lil Peep and in turn, what Lil Peep meant to so many. Everybody’s Everything is an intimate, humanistic portrait that seeks to understand an artist who attempted to be all things to all people.”
Everybody’s Everything will premiere at the Austin, Texas conference and festival on March 10, 12, and 14. More details are available on the SXSW website.
