This immersive film leads you to the dancefloor of London’s Bala Club

Sometimes the only way to explain a club night is to show you

In a new editorial collaboration with Nowness, we're releasing special episodes of Scenes —where we get up close and personal with some of the world's most compelling musical communities.

Despite the best efforts of boring councils and their heavy-handed licensing laws, London’s underground is not dead. Nightlife still finds ways for innovation and reinvention, and the latest instalment of our series, in collaboration with NOWNESS, brings you to the dancefloor of Bala Club.

The night is run by a collective comprised of Chilean-British siblings, Kamixlo and Uli K, and their friends Endgame who is a producer, and MC BlazeKidd, who eschew definition.

In one evening, you could have an hour of moody atmospheric tones followed by a cacophonous blend of whirring industrial noise, reggaetón, and then when you least expect it – a pop edit of Madonna’s 2000 hit “Music”. For that reason, it’s hard to pin down what Bala Club is, but in this experiential film, Crack Stevens does his best to show you.

Relive the night through his eyes above.
