Robyn’s new single, ‘Missing U’, is here

‘A song about this trippy thing that happens when people disappear’

Robyn’s new single, “Missing U”, is here. The Swedish pop singer teased the song in a mini-documentary released earlier this week, also called Missing U.

“Missing U” is a dancefloor thumper tinged with a certain amount of melancholy. It’s Robyn’s first blast of solo music since “Honey”, which appeared on an episode of HBO’s Girls last year but hasn’t received an official release.

Robyn’s last solo album was 2010’s Body Talk, although she’s collaborated with other artists in that time, including Mr. Tophat and Kindness. She also collaborated with Metronomy’s Joseph Mount on 2016’s “Hang Me Out to Dry”, and “Missing U” sees the singer team up once again with Mount as well as long-time collaborator Klas Åhlund (Charli XCX, Madonna) to write and produce the track.

“‘Missing U’ is a song about this trippy thing that happens when people disappear,” Robyn says in a statement accompanying the track. “It’s like they become even more clear and you see them everywhere.”

Earlier this year, Robyn revealed that she’d been working on new music and said that her new album would hopefully be released “some time this year”. She also described her new music as “softer” than previous releases.

Listen to “Missing U” below.
