What Went Down at the Come Together x Dazed Club Supper Club

We celebrated their second birthday with a dinner inspired by the Drama issue

Come Together is a supper club founded by Dazed Club curator Nikki Chadwick, envisioned as a place for creative types to gather together around the theme of interesting food. With their passion for connection and throwing a good get-together, we thought Come Together would be a fantastic fit. And of course it was!

Upon arrival at Green Place Studios, guests were greeted with MOTH cocktails while they got to know each other. Nikki then welcomed everyone alongside Dazed Club’s community manager Shel Kaplan, before food by chef Barney Pau was served.

Barney’s menu built on this idea of coming together in immersive and innovative ways, drawing from the Drama issue’s idea that “Sex is the ultimate form of communication.” In channelling this energy, the culinary artist’s use of food as a creative medium came out to play. Playing with plating, texture, and taste, his starter, titled ‘Breaking Through’ served a sensuously fleshy pink salad, through which cut a black cracker. Guests were encouraged to break through this ‘censorship’ to enjoy the expressive treat beneath.

The ‘DIY Dramatic Flare’ main saw everyone served a plain pile of tea-steeped grains. Out of the kitchen then came an array of colourful foods; different brightly-coloured sauces in piping bags; pink cubed pickles; bright leafy salads, and geometrically cut roasted veg. Guests could then customise their dishes in an act of culinary self expression.

Everyone was then invited to ‘Go Down on Us’ by the hosts, who served a sensuous dessert downstairs at the after party served alongside a signature ‘Curtain Call’ drink. For this portion of the night, new guests began to arrive, and before long the basement was filled. Of the two types of cake, the triple-layered black cocoa cake was handed out in silver goodie bags, into which everyone was encouraged to pump the edible lube also arranged on the table. Shortly after, Nikki, Barney and Shel then cut the six-layer beetroot and apple cake after blowing out the signature Come Together blue second birthday candle. Happy Birthday!

If you’re interested in attending Come Together’s next event, head to the DAZED Club app to RSVP for the release of their latest event series Test Kitchen Club - a relaxed afternoon recipe exchange workshop and tasting lead by one of their chefs. £5 off tickets for Dazed Club+ Members.
