What went down at the Glenfiddich x Aston Martin F1 event in Las Vegas

Following its inauguration in Vegas last year, the Grand Prix returns to the city, with Aston Martin celebrating their new collaboration with famed whisky brand Glenfiddich

In Las Vegas, neon lights flicker well into the night, luring guests from the 40 floors up in their hotels to the debauchery at street level. It’s where you can be blinded by a Space X launch in the distance or go on a flight of your own in a helicopter down the strip. And for 20 dollars less, you can remove the doors of that helicopter and feel the breeze from upwards of 10,000 feet. Then, there’s a thriving art scene in downtown Las Vegas or so I’ve been told as I can’t see it for myself thanks to skyrocketing Uber prices. As the F1 Grand Prix comes to town, a race track snakes the famous Vegas strip, making it almost unbearable to get around. It seems the whole world is in town to catch a glimpse of the F1 vehicles hurtling down the track at speeds of up to 233mph.

They’ve spent the past 14 months building the three-storey Paddock club where a lucky few were able to view the races from above the garages. Balenciaga launched their limited edition racing series, Off-White a “Racing” capsule collection and Lewis Hamilton connected with Tyler, the Creator on Golf Wang x +44 collaboration. Aston Martin announced their multi-year global partnership with Glenfiddich, the world's most awarded single malt Scotch Whiskey and cemented an extended partnership between the both of them.

There’s no better place for the two timeless brands to find commonality in their heritage, innovation and relentless quest for excellence. “At Aston Martin Formula One® Team, we continuously push boundaries to set new standards, and Glenfiddich embodies that same spirit of perfection and innovation. The Las Vegas Grand Prix is the perfect stage to debut our partnership, and we’re excited to offer fans an unforgettable experience that transcends the racetrack and whisky world alike,” says Lawrence Stroll, owner and executive chairman of Aston Martin Formula One Team.

Here’s what went down across the Las Vegas Grand Prix weekend.

THE UNVEILING

In the dead of night, we were driven up to the outskirts of the city, in the mountains to unveil the new Aston Martin F1 car in the heart of the Vegas desert. Alongside this, Glenfiddich revealed a 1959 bottle, in celebration of the year Aston Martin began its transformation into a global symbol of luxury and innovation, paving the way for their team's first foray into Formula 1 in 1959. Gordon Grant, the third Malt Master and a key part of the Glenfiddich heritage casked this blend. The brand is still family-owned and produced in the same distillery its founder, William Grant and his family hand-built.

THE CELEBRATIONS

Over a candlelight dinner, we celebrated the beginning of a new partnership between the two brands. It also marks the first of many new experiences, events and moments that will help to reshape the sport for a wider audience. With the likes of Lance Stroll, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, interests from a Gen Z audience continue to flourish and legacy brands like Aston Martin are tapping in with experiential moments that exist both on and off the track.

THE PADDOCK CLUB

Aston Martin only returned to Formula One in 2021, after 61 years out of action. Under the leadership of Lawrence Stroll, the team has been investing in its new AMR technology Campus in Silverstone – the sport’s first new F1 Team base in over a decade. In the Paddock Club, we were able to see the craftsmanship and science behind the incredibly aerodynamic cars that reach breakneck speeds. It’s also where you could casually stroll past a Lando Norris or Lewis Hamilton during practice sessions. Then there’s the celebrities like Justin Bieber, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky all trying to catch a glimpse of the action.

CELEBRITY SIGHTINGS

Everyone from Paris Hilton and Emily Ratajowski to Kevin Hart and Paul Mescal. Formula 1 is becoming a new stage for the who’s who. The latest sport to see and be seen. Adele had VIP access to the garages, while A$AP Rocky and Rihanna donned their headphones to get a good listen into the driver’s comms. Justin Bieber had the pleasure of waving the flag, signalling the drivers to speed off, while Lisa wouldn’t let a wardrobe malfunction rain on her parade.
