Founded in 1780, Jameson Irish Whiskey dates back to a time when workwear was workwear, worn by craftspeople and creators – nothing more, and nothing less. Now, almost 250 years later, the fashion landscape obviously looks very different, but it’s this tradition that the number one Irish whiskey brand taps into in its latest collaboration, combining forces with the iconic workwear label Dickies.
Titled “Crafted Together”, the capsule collection aims to pay tribute to the craft, kinship and communities behind both brands (Dickies itself dates back a century, to 1922) with a limited-edition Jameson bottle, alongside fresh takes on iconic Dickies pieces. Think: caps, overalls, beanies, and the staple Dickies Eisenhower jacket, as well as t-shirts and hoodies that feature new, bespoke graphics in homage to the original Jameson ”barrel men” of the 1700s.
“Quality craftsmanship is a longstanding pillar of our Dickies business, and deeply rooted in our workmanship community,” says Sarah Crockett, chief marketing officer at Dickies. “Dickies and Jameson teaming up feels like a natural partnership due to both brand identities and our shared DNA. We’re thrilled to collaborate with Jameson Whiskey to commemorate our brand stories and most importantly, celebrate our loyal customers.”
Brendan Buckley, global marketing director for Jameson, also notes the natural fit between the two brands. “Jameson Irish Whiskey was founded in 1780, when workwear was the uniform of the working community, often seen in the local pub after a hard day’s work,” he says. ”Meanwhile, Dickies began its life in 1922 as an iconic, quality workwear brand. Craft and kinship underpin both brands and we are delighted to bring that shared ethos to life through the ’Crafted Together’ collaboration.”
Community is also a key aspect of the accompanying “Crafted Together” campaign, shot by the Dublin-born, Brooklyn-based photographer Rich Gilligan. Capturing creators and makers with connections to Dickies and Jameson, Gilligan’s images trace the evolution of the respective brands in the modern day, which has seen traditional craftspeople intermingle with musicians and skaters, united by their shared uniforms.
