Release the book: Bimini Bon Boulash is writing a guide to life

The RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star is set to publish their life lessons in October, sharing what drag has taught them about identity, politics, and fashion

Bimini Bon Boulash is writing a book – not a joke, just a fact.

The RuPaul’s Drag Race UK star is set to share their life lessons in A Drag Queen’s Guide to Life, which is slated for publication in October. The book will see Bimini explore what life in drag has taught them about identity, politics, history, health, and fashion. They’ll also discuss their own story, as well as those of the non-conformist queens, musicians, designers, and more who have inspired them.

“This book is an absolute ‘don’t wake me if I’m dreaming’ moment, and I can’t wait to share it with the world,” Bimini said in a press release. “Think of this as your anti self-help book – a manifesto that won’t make you feel bad when you don’t do things perfectly, and will encourage you to be kind to yourself always.”

A Drag Queen’s Guide to Life will be published by Viking, an imprint of Penguin. Tom Killingbeck, the publishing house’s editorial director, said: “This book is full of charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent, and will be a much-needed riposte to bestselling treatises from buttoned-up psychologists telling us how to live ordered lives.”

The book will also feature illustrations by Jules Scheele, whose work can be found in Meg-John Barker’s Queer: A Graphic History and its follow-ups.

Although they didn’t snatch the title, Bimini became the breakout star of season two of Drag Race UK. Loved for their scene-stealing Snatch Game turn as Katie Price, as well as their iconic fashion references (see: that Iris Van Herpen amoeba moment), poignant reflections on gender, and political jabs, Bimini has since gone on to walk at London Fashion Week and star in a short film.

Look back at Dazed’s interview with the drag icon below, in which they shares their biggest fashion inspos – from Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen to Paris Hilton and Pamela Anderson.

A Drag Queen’s Guide to Life will be published by Viking on October 28. You can pre-order it here.
