Thanks to Tiffany Haddish, #WhoBitBeyonce is the biggest internet mystery this year
Since Girls Trip, outlandish comedian Tiffany Haddish has become a staple of Hollywood events and parties – catch her chasing down Meryl Streep on the red carpet and making mates with Bey. One such party was the event following Jay Z’s Inglewood performance in December 2017.
Haddish has been releasing fascinating little details from the night for months as she excitingly revealed a selfie that she took with Beyoncé on her Instagram at the time. Eventually, she revealed that Beyoncé had agreed to take the photo because she was trying to calm Haddish down. Now we know why. “There's people out here biting Beyoncé!” she revealed to GQ in a recent interview.
“There was this actress there,” Haddish explained, deliberately keeping her exact identity secret, “that’s just, like, doing the mostest.” One of the most things she did? “She bit Beyoncé in the face.”
She continued: “So Beyoncé stormed away, went up to Jay-Z, and was like, ‘Jay! Come here! This bitch –’ and snatched him. They went to the back of the room. I was like, ‘What just happened?’ And Beyoncé’s friend walked up and was like, ‘Can you believe this bitch just bit Beyoncé?’”
After this altercation Haddish and the biter crossed paths several times, and eventually the comedian told Beyoncé that she was ready to fight the aggressor in her honour. However, Bey stepped in to calm Haddish down with the selfie – she also told her there was no point in fighting as the culprit was most likely high. “‘Tiffany, no. Don't do that. That bitch is on drugs. She not even drunk. The bitch is on drugs. She not like that all the time. Just chill,’” Beyoncé reportedly said.
But the internet isn’t ready to chill – we need to know who bit Beyoncé and we need to know now. Chrissy Teigen added more fuel to the fire by claiming she knows who it was and that she “would never have guessed”. So we compiled a list of possible culprits:
SANAA LATHAN
Best known for being in possibly every black romance film in the 90s as the sweet love interest, Sanaa Lathan has procured the reputation of the girl next door. But what if the girl next door likes taking chunks of flesh from the cheeks of superstars? Lathan has denied any claims that she may have bitten Beyoncé on Twitter, but said if she did do it, it would have been a love bite. Potentially a suspect.
CHARLOTTE MCKINNEY
What do we know about Charlotte McKinney? Well, she was at the concert. She is an actress, having recently starred in Baywatch. But we’re not sure if she’s likely to have made it into the Carter-Knowles inner circle for the after party.
SARA FOSTER
The former 90210 actor and VH1 reality star was seen at the concert with Jen Meyer. She later took to Instagram to laugh at the accusation – which is exactly what you’d do if you did bite someone... Sara stays on our list.
QUEEN LATIFAH
This leaves Queen Latifah. In 2012, she took time out of a full schedule of interviews to congratulate Beyoncé and Jay Z on Blue Ivy’s birth. “Congratulations Jigga, B.,” said Queen. “Welcome to Earth little baby Blue”. She was at the show, and it’s likely that she’d come along to the party too. As a fellow actress in Girls Trip, maybe she arrived with Haddish, before getting a little too excited. They’re friends. We’ve all gone out with a friend gets way too drunk and because you’re in their circle it reflects badly on you. Maybe that’s why Haddish was getting angry. Maybe that’s why Chrissy Teigen said we could never guess it. Maybe this explains why Haddish would protect the identity.
