Charli xcx is reportedly to be appearing in yet another upcoming feature film – this time by Japanese horror director Takashi Miike.
The Brat superstar is said to be both starring in and producing the newest production from Audition and Ichi the Killer director Miike, whose films are known for their graphic violence and depictions of sexual deviancy. The as-of-yet untitled film’s screenplay will be written by How To Save a Marriage writer Ross Evans, while Charli will produce the film under her new production company Studio365, which is also producing original mockumentary feature The Moment in partnership with A24 Films.
Today’s announcement arrives as the latest in a long series of upcoming movie appearances from Charli xcx. She is also reportedly appearing in Gregg Araki’s I Want Your Sex, A24’s Mother Mary, Romain Gavras’ Sacrifice (alongside Yung Lean), a remake of 1978 cult horror classic Faces of Death, and more.
Additionally, last month reports circulated that Charli was in talks to play Jadis, the White Witch in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Narnia production. However, today Sex Education star Emma Mackey has been announced for the role instead.
“I’m interested in the tension of staying too long,” wrote Charli xcx on Instagram earlier this week (April 28) and, indeed, it seems she will be continuing to appear on our screens for many months to come.
