Get ready for new music by Daft Punk, as the French duo are set to score Dario Argento’s upcoming film, Occhiali Neri.
In an interview with Italian publication La Repubblica, the Suspiria director confirmed the news, saying: “They are my admirers, they know all my cinema. As French friends, they learned that I was shooting a new film and they called me (and said), ‘we want to work with you’.”
Set to send the first songs soon, Daft Punk will also travel to Rome to meet with the filmmaker as soon as it’s safe to do so. The film marks the duo’s first movie score in 10 years, following their soundtrack for 2010 sci-fi action film, Tron: Legacy.
Occhiali Neri – which translates as Black Glasses – is Argento’s first movie in eight years, following the release of 2012’s Dracula 3D. According to the director, the film is set in and around Rome, and is an adventure story centring on a Chinese girl and boy. Argento’s daughter, Asia Argento, is set to join the cast, though reportedly not as the lead.

Update (April 30): The producers of Occhiali Neri have clarified Argento’s recent comments, saying that Daft Punk haven’t yet agreed or begun discussions to work on the upcoming film. Instead, the director’s statement reportedly reflected “a desire” to work with the French duo. The producers added: “There has been no agreement nor discussions between both parties. The movie is currently in pre-production, and Dario’s wish is not on today’s agenda.”
