With most countries on lockdown, students are now having to take their classes online, with lectures transformed into Zoom meetings. And while this current situation can sometimes feel a bit bleak, there have been a number of initiatives put forward to help brighten things up, most recently coming from The National Film and Television School.
Surprising 450 of its online film students, the institution invited esteemed director David Fincher, the brains behind The Social Network and Fight Club, to present a MasterClass.
Taking to Twitter, Jon Wardle, the director of The National Film and Television School said: “It’s been a tough week so we wanted to do something to lift the spirits of @NFTSFilmTV students. So this afternoon 450 x students sat down for a masterclass via @zoom_us with THE David Fincher.”
Finishing the tweet by calling Fincher “a legend”, students were offered a glimpse into the mind of the notably reclusive director.
As of late, Fincher has also been working on his first film in six years. Entitled Mank, the Netflix production is set to detail the life of Citizen Kane screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz. Slated to debut sometime in 2020, an official release date is yet to be announced.
