If (like most of us) you’ve already binge-watched the entirety of Netflix’s reboot of Sabrina the Teenage Witch – now renamed The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina – and find yourself longing to return to Greendale, then you’re in luck, because Netflix has just announced that a Christmas special is on the way.
The standalone episode, titled “A Midwinter's Tale” is set to drop on Friday, December the 14th, and will feature the cast up to their usual spooky antics with Kiernan Shipna (Sabrina), Ross Lynch (Harvey), and Michelle Gomez (the evil Ms Wardwell) among those reprising their roles. Perhaps we could also see appearances from some fresh-faces in the town of Greendale, given that Christmas is all about bringing people together. It might be time for that Riverdale crossover.
What we do know, according to The Hollywood Reporter, is that the story will unfold as the Church of Night celebrate the winter solstice, the longest night of the year which is sure to have lots of Xmas treats in store for Sabrina and her pals. In the words of the show’s creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, as he announced the special on Twitter, “Praise Satan! I mean, Praise Santa!”.
Although a release date for the second full series of Sabrina is yet to be announced, a festive visit to the Spellman’s residence this year will surely tide fans over as they eagerly await more tales from the teen occult world. So prepare to wrap up warm, grab a hot chocolate and watch as the spunky half-witch and her eclectic group of friends try to keep Satan at bay on Jesus’ birthday.
