In pictures: Berlin Fashion Week is coming for the street style crown

It’s halfway through the AW25 season, and Berliners have so far made the strongest case for subversive style beyond the Big Four

As the halfway point of this AW25 season slowly approaches, everyone’s looking around and taking stock. With the big glut of womenswear shows still to come, and the men’s collections in the rearview mirror, it’s a chance for cities like Copenhagen and Berlin to flex their style credentials, which the latter did this past weekend when the latest edition of BFW rolled into town. On the catwalk, Marie Lueder created the week’s viral moment with her ‘Men are so BACK’ slogan vest, while GmbH delivered a touching ode to the poetry of Norwegian writer Gunvor Hofmo – but there were also a lot of standout style moments off the catwalks too.

From bleach blonde moustaches, skirts made from ties and racoon tails as scarves, this season’s Berliners were intent on flexing their singular styles, and photographer Laura Schaeffer was there on standby to capture all the looks. Many had clearly gotten the memo about faux fur being huge for AW25, turning up in short shaggy jackets, imitation chinchilla, long furs in the mob wife tradition and colourful, bright blue versions. Elsewhere, accessories reigned supreme as the premier way to express some individuality. Trinket-y bag charms were expectedly everywhere, as were fluffy fur trappers and colourful knitted hats, but it was the Puma Mostro boxing boots which took the crown as this season’s It-shoe.
