What went down when adidas and Zalando brought a Sound Bar to Berlin

Taking place at the Chausseestraße 131 in the German capital, the event celebrated local scenes and creative communities

Last month, adidas and Zalando hosted a Sound Bar event celebrating Berlin’s local scenes and their creative communities. Starting off with immersive listening sessions, guests enjoyed light installations and motion visuals designed by local artists, showcasing the city’s wealth of talent across music, art, and contemporary culture.

Attendees later enjoyed immersive sound sessions, followed by energetic DJ sets curated by the creative collective RATHAUS. Upcycled sculptures inspired by the adidas Originals archive added to the experience. Elsewhere, the collaboration with the local community highlighted the rising trend in the realm of ‘Sound Art’, offering guests a unique glimpse into Berlin's cultural landscape.

Here’s everything that went down at the event.

IT TOOK PLACE IN BERLIN’S CREATIVE DISTRICT

Located in the heart of Berlin-Mitte, the event was hosted at Chausseestraße 131. A bar and creative art venue, the location’s secret club used to be home to iconic local Berlin musicians such as Wolf Biermann and Nina Hagen. For the sound bar experience, adidas and Zalando welcomed just under 400 guests to immerse themselves in the adidas Originals world.

THE NIGHT STARTED WITH COSY SETS ON THE FLOOR

Before heading upstairs to the secret club for sets curated by collective RATHAUS, guests were invited into a serene and cosy room to enjoy the sound installation. Elsewhere, RATHAUS had their own visual work featured in the space and selected the other artists involved in the event, including designer Soji Solarin who created a recycled sculpture that sat in the venue.

Tapping into the idea of ‘sound art’, the sound experience also included “spheric sound sessions” where guests sitting on comfy floor pillows could experience sound in a different way than usual. DJs Faketias and Nunguja soundtracked the night.

THERE WAS AN INTERACTIVE INSTALLATION

Alongside the sets, the evening also saw a digital version of the adidas x Zalando campaign come to life through an interactive installation. An up-and-coming photographer, Guillaume, was present to capture portraits of each guest, in a style reminiscent of the campaign. Shortly after, the images were projected onto a wall at the venue. The wall extended throughout the event, resulting in a display of over 1,000 stories of all the guests. Rising videographer Ilya captured the event the experience through the event.
