Rock up to your average yard sale and the selection on offer often leaves something to be desired. Some broken patio chairs. A grubby little Barbie doll. Maybe an old issue of Dazed if you’re extra lucky! The yard sale’s reputation for continuing the life cycle of earth’s most useless items is truly undefeated. That was until Chlöe Sevigny announced on Instagram that she’s clearing out her New York storage unit and flogging a bunch of old garms to the public. Chlöe stans unite!
Billed as ‘the Sale of The Century’, the actress and fashion icon has promised a plethora of different styles, from never-worn items and everyday staples, to stacks of denim and mountains of designer. She’s even thrown in some Gen Z buzzwords for good measure, guaranteeing a number of “indie sleaze” garments. V cool!!
The OG It-girl will be joined by iconic fashion reporter Lynn Yaeger, former US Vogue creative director Sally Singer and renowned fashion editor Mickey Boardman, who will all be selling off their old items as well. The sale is organised by ex-Vogue editor Liana Satenstein as a special edition of her Instagram series Neverworns, where she encourages various fashion people to chuck or keep items from their wardrobes they’ve never worn. And if Sevigny’s street style is anything to go by, her edition will be filled with tonnes of vintage Comme, a smattering of flowy Preen dresses, sleek Loewe sunnies, and enough leopard to re-wild a pride of big cats – just don’t expect to bag her Glenn Martens wedding dress.
Chlöe Sevigny’s storage unit sale is on from 12pm to 5pm on May 14 at 676 Broadway, 2nd Floor, New York, NY 10012.
