East London-based designer Lena M Áine is auctioning off the dress worn by Julia Fox for her Evening Standard cover. The designer announced that they would be selling their ‘bloody’ dress on Instagram, in order to raise funds for their brand LeMÁine after their studio was damaged by flooding.
Fox’s ES cover dropped back in September 2022, styled by Briana Andalore and photographed by Richie Shazam (two longtime friends and collaborators). In the arresting cover photo, she stares out through a hole in a chain link fence wearing the sinewy, gothy dress, like a vampirised Morticia Addams.
Blood and gore is Lena M Áine’s speciality, with the designs on their website described as “contemporary haute macabre.”
According to Áine, the Julia Fox dress has a 27-inch waist with a lace-up ‘corset’ style fastening, and measures roughly 54 inches from shoulder strap to hem. The base mesh fabric is in a light nude, while their signature textile is latex-based.
Bidding started at £500. Áine is posting updates about bids on their stories, and at present, the highest bid is £550. Julia Fox has also reshared Áine’s post.
“I am by no means expecting any amount of money from this, however in the unlikely case that a large bid is made, I’ll be making a donation to NSPA and Mermaids,” they said. You never know – a certain Kim K might be looking to add yet another piece of fashion history to the family vault.
