Live out your ‘Almost Famous’ fantasies with Hedi’s SS20 Celine collection

Slimane showed a 70s-inspired collection at Paris Fashion Week tonight

Day 3,758 of Paris Fashion Week and we’re back in the company of Hedi Slimane, as the designer presents what he’s spent the last six months working on at his SS20 womenswear show. Will there be skinny jeans? Skinny ties? Skinny models? No spoilers! Best to keep reading and find out...

LISA FROM BLACKPINK WAS THE UNOFFICIAL STAR OF THE SHOW

The K-Pop star is becoming known as a big fan of Celine, having been seen on the frow a few times over the course of the last few seasons. Tonight was no different – with people genuinely cheering as she took her seat dressed head-to-toe in the label, duh.

SKINNY JEANS? WHAT SKINNY JEANS?

Forget what we said about skinny jeans in our pithy intro – according to Hedi, flares are back, baby! First seen infiltrating the Celine runway at the designer’s AW19 show, this time around there were wide-legged denim jeans, pairs made of chunky cord, and the kind of crisp white cotton kick-flares Elizabeth Hurley would have definitely gone wild for circa the late 90s. See also: culottes. Back with a bang, apparently.

THERE WAS A STAND-OUT COAT IDEAL FOR LIVING OUT YOUR WILDEST, ALMOST FAMOUS FANTASIES

Take a look at the coat above – no further information necessary.

...IN FACT, THE 70S VIBE WAS PRETTY STRONG THROUGHOUT

With shaggy afghan coats, fur-trimmed waistcoats, Collegiate sweaters bearing the Parisian house’s name, and prairie-style midi-dresses all featuring heavily. Looks were finished with basket-style bags, wide-brimmed hats, and both glittery and animal-print headscarves: think bougie, uptown Parisian woman meets bohemian St Tropez babe circa 1976 and you’re just about there.
