Model Jazzelle talks self-acceptance and their new shoe collab

Model Jazzelle Zanaughtti – otherwise known as @uglyworldwide – has released their first capsule collection with French footwear label Palladium

Founded way back in 1947, French label Palladium has been creating durable, military-inspired boots for over 70 years. That’s not to say they’re in any way stuck in the past though: far from it. Last year, Palladium’s SS18 campaign was fronted by Dazed 100 rapper Octavian and model Jazzelle Zanaughtti – who you might know better by their IG persona, @uglyworldwide

Now, Detroit-born Zanaughtti is back for another season, only this time they’re not just in front of the camera – for AW19, the brand enlisted them to design a capsule collection entitled PALLAKIX UGLYWORLDWIDE.

The collection features four different styles, all designed on the brand new Pallakix boot silhouette. Each shoe is branded with the word ‘Ugly’ and a Band-Aid – two motifs Zanaughtti holds close to their heart. In the campaign film, they explain that the Band-Aid is symbolic of healing and protection against the opinions of others, while “Ugly is about accepting yourself, for the good, the bad, and everything in-between.”

With thick, chunky soles, the boots draw inspiration from Palladium’s vast archive, while paying homage to the styles they put out in the 90s: including the Pampa Hi and the Pallaphoenix. The boots are available in both high and low tops, and come in black, yellow, and red colourways.

“I hope that everyone who wears the shoes feels that every step they take, is one step towards being whatever the hell they want, and one step away from what is expected,” Zanaughtti explains.
