Music has been a part of Dazed100er cktrl's life for as long as he can remember: from clarinet lessons throughout his school life to fond memories from his NTS days, to his critically acclaimed EP Robyn which saw him collaborate with the most imaginative names of the Black British underground, including Dazed's editor-in-chief Ib Kamara who shot the EP’s artwork.
As a producer, his work is firmly rooted in the future. Resisting the pressure to rehash old, established territory in favour of a fresh perspective is elemental to cktrl's work: “No one has ever blown up from making a better version of someone else’s sound,” he says.
For this agenda-setting performance, cktrl will be joined by moving image artist, director, curator and founder of HERVISIONS, Zaiba Jabbar. A leader in augmented reality and digital exhibitions, Jabbar's work focuses on the democratisation of art, led by a preoccupation with how we experience art outside the white cube, and how people in the margins are making space for themselves using technology to create art outside of traditional formats.
